The fifth largest city in Saskatchewan in Canada is home to Swift Current Airport (YYN), an airport located 4.6 miles east of Swift Current, Canada. In the 1930s, it began as a crude aerodrome as part of Canada's national “100-mile interval” aerodrome system.Duringthe outbreak of WWII, it became the base for RAF’s Service Flying Training School. After the war, the airport was operated by the Department of Transport (now Transport Canada) until the late 1990s. Today, it continues to serve as a public facility that accommodates corporate charters, military training, private aircraft, and government aircraft.

Many infrastructure that were built during the war remain at Swift Current Airport until today. The airfield layout that comprises the runways and taxiways has the same configuration as it did originally. One of the seven original hangars is still in use. Of the six runways, only 2 are operational today. YVN Airport is set to receive funding from the province for routine maintenance projects like asphalt overlays, slurry seals and crack sealing.
