Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport (YXY) is a public airport situated in Whitehorse, Yukon. This international airport is owned and operated by the Yukon government and serves as a hub for Air North. Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport was named in honor of Erik Nielsen, a Parliament member from Yukon. In 2017, YXY-Whitehorse attended to a total of 366,000 passengers and mainly serves the city of Whitehorse.
There are several airlines operating in and out of YXY including Air Canada, Air Canada Express, and Air North with flights going to Vancouver, Calgary, Dawson, Edmonton, Inuvik, Mayo, Kelowna, and Victoria. This airport was constructed between 1940 and 1941 by the Department of Transport but was transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force. In addition, YXY Airport also handles Whitehorse Water Aerodrome in Schwatka Lake.
