Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) is the biggest airport in northern Alberta and is situated 8 miles of Fort McMurray, Alberta in Canada. This airport operates daily flights to several destinations including Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, and Fort Chipewyan. YMM serves a number of airlines including Air Canada, WestJet, Northwestern Air, and McMurray Aviation.
The first airstrip for smaller aircraft was built in 1936 connecting Fort McMurray to Edmonton. In 1942, the US Army Air Forces took over the airport and two years later gave back the operations to the Canadian Department of Transport now known as Transport Canada.

Fort McMurray Airport Authority manages YMM airport since 2010. Over the decade, the passengers in YMM airport grew in numbers and flights were always almost fully booked. In 2014, Fort McMurray attended to over 1.3 million passengers making it the 15th busiest airport in Canada. The airport was renovated and opened a new terminal facility in 2014 to accommodate 1.5 million passengers.
In 2018, due to a huge decline in passengers, YMM became the 20th busiest airport in Canada. The same year, Fort McMurray airport announced that it would no longer serve international flights. This airport mainly serves the town of Fort McMurray including Wood Buffalo in Alberta.
