Dakhla Airport which uses the IATA code VIL is ajoint public and military airport serving Dakhla formerly called Villa Cisneros in Western Sahara, Morocco. The airport operates from the heart of the city and connects to Dakar Airport in the South and Agadir Airport to the north. Management of the airport is done by both the Moroccan state-owned company ONDA and the Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF). It was used by the US Army Air Forces as a stopover for cargo, transiting aircraft and personnel during World War II.
