Founded by the Sōtō Zen monk Shunryū Suzuki, the San Francisco Zen Center in San Francisco, California is a network of retreat centers where visitors can reflect, connect, and engage. It has been around the area for over five decades now and features daily meditation, classes, and workshops, along with dharma talks and teachings. The San Francisco Zen Center is considered the West’s biggest Sōtō organization. It is generally comprised of the Beginner’s Mind Temple (an urban temple in the middle of the city housing a vibrant community), the Green Glutch (an organic farm nestled in one of Marin County’s valleys), and the Tassajara Zen Mountain Center (a monastery retreat tucked away in a remote mountain valley).

There are also several other attractions worth visiting within the San Francisco area, one of which is the headquarters of the Anchor Brewing Company. It was established back in the mid-1890s and remained to be one of the only few remaining breweries producing Steam Beer or California common beer. From there, make your way to the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco that features over 18,000 art pieces, some of which date as far back as 6,000 years ago.

As for accommodations, you can easily choose among the many hotels dotting the city.
