Ormoc: Eastern Visaya’s Emerging Tourist Destination
Ormoc is a first-class independent city in the province of Leyte in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines. Its name was taken from the Visayan word “ogmok,” which means “depressed plain” or “lowland.” Tourists visit the city for its breathtaking lakes and other natural attractions. To reach the city, you can fly through Ormoc Airport located approximately 13 minutes away from the center.
Best Time to Visit
Thousands of tourists visit the city during the month of June to join the revelries for the annual fiesta celebrations and the Pina Festival. Around this time, most Ormoc, Leyte, PHI hotels are filled with guests, so book your rooms ahead of time. The rest of the months are also ideal to tour the area but expect heavier rainfalls in the city during the period between November and January.

Visitors flock to the area to marvel at the beauty of Lake Danao, where they can rent a boat, hang out in floating cottages, or try to catch a fish. If you want to observe how the locals spend their leisure time, you can drop by and walk around the World War II Veterans and Centennial Park.
