Mustique Airport – MQS Mustique Island

Mustique Airport is a privately owned airfield that is open for public use. It is situated in Mustique Island, an island that is a part of Saint Vincent and Grenadines in the Caribbean Sea. The airport is owned by Mustique Company and is used for turboprop planes by civil aviation and national airlines. It opened in 1969 celebrating its 50 years in 2019. It is the oldest and surviving airport in the area. Tourists frequent Mustique Island because it is known to be “The world’s finest private-island retreat.” Unlike other Caribbean destinations, the island does not have an overcrowded beach, which is perfect for quiet travel moments.


Best Time to Visit

Mustique Airport is characterized by a short takeoff and landing runway made of asphalt measuring only 992 meters. The aircraft allowed to land in the airport is limited as it is built to handle small aircrafts only. As of the moment, the airport can only serve propeller aircrafts with 18 seats. The airport has a small single-story terminal building which is attached to a two-story control tower. The terminal offers a Commercially Important People lounge. It also has a small apron to allow passengers to embark and disembark the aircraft more conveniently. The airport relies on visual landings as it does not have radio-navigational aids.

Firefly Hotel Mustique is a high-end hotel that is just two kilometers from the airport, Lagoon Beach and Macaroni Beach. Cotton House is a five-star hotel, which just takes a 16-minute walk to reach the airport, and is along Endeavor Beach. Consider a 5-star Mandarin Oriental, Canouan, located less than 2 miles from the airport.
