Kokkola-Pietarsaari Airport dates back to 1960 when it was still called Kruunupyy or Kronoby Airport. Situated in Kronoby, Finland, it lies approximately 12 miles south of Kokkola’s city centre and 19 miles northeast of Jakobstad’s. It opened to air traffic with Aero’s route to and from Helsinki. The original airport and air traffic control building were completed in 1964, and the aerodrome took on its current name on March 1st of 2010. It is also identified by its airport code of KOK.

KOK-Kokkola-Pietarsaari Airport has two asphalt runways: the 01/19 measures 8,202 feet while the 11/29 is 2,297 feet. Runway 01/19 was extended to its current length in 1991 and paved in 2012 when the KOK’s lighting system was also replaced. The airport terminal itself was expanded in 1997. Aegean Airlines and Nodic Regional Airlines are currently the carriers that use the Kokkola-Pietarsaari Airport, which is an ideal gateway for travelers to Kokkola, Jakobstad, Pietarsaari, Nykarleby, and Kannus.
