Kauhava Airfield – KAU
The Kauhava Airfield or most locally known as Kauhavan lentokenttä, is one of Finland’s 30 airports. It is located two miles north of Kauhava center in Finland and serves the town and the nearby places. The Kauhava Airport, whose airport code is KAU, is a military airfield before 2014. It was owned by Finavia, the company responsible for overseeing 21 airports around Finland with 19 as commercial airports while the rest are military facilities. It was in 2014 that Finavia announced for the selling of the airfield to Kasvuyrittäjät Oy.

KAU-Kauhava Airfield is an uncontrolled type airport. It is owned by LSK Business Park Oy and operated by Ilmasotakoulun Lentokerho ry. The airport has a total area suitable for a small airfield and an elevation of 151 ft above mean sea level. It has single runway with asphalt as its surface. In 2010, the airport had 155 passengers and 5,900 landings. The airport is close to Lapua, one of Finland’s most visited towns. It boasts a lot of attractions which include landscape dominated by rivers, wide fields, forests, and the Simpsiö hill, a best ski center. It gives excellent opportunities for sports and cultural interests. You can easily drive to the tourists' sites of Lapua from the airport.
