The Johnson Space Center – NASA is the center for human spaceflight and located in Houston, Texas. It was originally named Manned Spacecraft Center but was later renamed to honor the late Lyndon B. Johnson, the late US president, and a Texas native. The center is home to the astronaut corps of NASA, and it is responsible for training people to become astronauts, whether a US citizen or one of its international partners. The Johnson Space Center was built in 1967 and covered 1,620 acres of land with a total of 100 buildings. It was nicknamed Space City because of its massive size.
