Honiara International Airport – HIR Honiara

Honiara International Airport is the primary international airport in Solomon Islands. It is located in the province of Guadalcanal and is just 5 miles east of the vibrant capital, Honiara, Solomon Islands. The airport was started by the Japanese forces during the World War II and was formerly known as Henderson Field, named after Marine Major Lofton Henderson. After the war, the airport was shut down but was later reopened to be a civilian airport.
