Chaiya: Eat, Pray, and Bathe
Chaiya, Thailand is a small town that is part of a district bearing a similar name, Chaiya District. It was founded in the year 1915 and was then declared to be the district’s capital. Before all that, the land was merely a railway and was previously known as Ban Don Rongthong. Like the majority of the country, many ancient ruins and temples are the main reason why there a lot of visitors in town. The town’s close proximity to the Gulf of Thailand is also an advantage.
Best Time to Visit
A hot weather is dominant throughout the entire year over at Chaiya yet it rains a significant amount especially towards the second half of the year. For that matter, the best time to be in town would be between December and March when there is lesser chance of heavy rainfall, the temperature is slightly cooler than the rest of the year, and travelers are few in numbers – with the exception of the holiday month of December. What to Do & Area Attractions
Home to important Buddhist relics is the temple known as Wat Phra Borommathat Chaiya Worawihan. It is only one of the few remaining temples with Srivijaya influence all over the entirety of Thailand. Another notable temple would be the Suan Mokkh Moklaphalaram Garden that is surrounded by a beautiful and huge forest. In a park nestled somewhere in town, you will find the relaxing and therapeutic Ancient Hot Springs. Most Chaiya hotels and accommodations are bungalow-type. They are also nearby the two temples aforementioned and are very budget-friendly. Among the top recommendations are Roong Arun Resort, Maruay Resort, and Chaiya Resort.
