YOC serves the community of Old Crow, a small town with a population of 300 indigenous people. Old Crow was named in honor of an Indian Chief, Deetru`Kavihdik which translates to “Crow, may I walk?” Aside from the town, a mountain, river, and airport were also named after him.
The small community of Old Crow is the only village in Yukon without an access road, which makes it, isolated from other surrounding cities. The only way to reach the community is through the Old Crow Airport.
